When working in a small boutique it is important to appeal
to your customers quickly. Most people walking by need to be drawn to the store
and the items inside quickly in order for them to come in. In our store we have
white walls and bright lights to enhance the clothing and let the product speak
for itself. Your window display can really show what your store is about and
what you can expect upon entering. The designer and owner of the store keeps
everything very simple and minimalistic. The products are very simple and
architectural so she mimics her window displays and store layout to compliment
the nature of her clothing and shoes. She is known for minimalism and effortlessness
so sometimes it is difficult to make that appeal to someone from a hanger or
from outside of the store.
I included some pictures below of how the store is
merchandised. The store is merchandised by color. She will put all the
merchandise of the same color on one rack. One thing she does is put a shirt
followed by pants followed by a jacket. This shows the customer an outfit as
they are passing through the rack. The shoes are arranged by the style of the
shoe. She changes the shoes the most, so that they continually look different
for the people who are shopping in the store often. This is a good practice
because this will get customers to recognize shoes that maybe they had not seen
the last time they were shopping. I love to see the many different ways to
merchandise the store and to see how the customers respond to it!
Your pictures add so much to your post! How her style is so minimalistic and neat and organized is beautiful to me. I especially love the T-stands and their natural wood ends. I hate shopping in crowded and unorganized stores so that first picture of the shoes on the tables would immediately draw me in. Truly beautiful merchandising!
ReplyDeleteMorghan,
ReplyDeleteJust from the pictures, I love the store's aesthetic and minimalistic designs. Where are you working? Working in a boutique is fun because it allows you to test and try out new things to see what works best for your customer.
