Events, Interns and Photo Shoots

This past week I have been spending most of my time working on an event that we are having in during fashion week. While I can’t give away too many details yet, I can say that it has been a lot of fun seeing the event come together. I have mostly been working on keeping the RSVP list up to date with important information regarding those who have replied, “yes” to coming. I can’t wait to share more about the event after we have it next Friday.
We also had another new intern start working this week, which I was surprised to find out because I had no idea until I walked in on Tuesday morning! Tuesday was her first day in the office and showing her around and how everything works was really making me reflect back on my first weeks at Shoshanna. I can’t believe how much I have learned and how different everything seems from my first days. One of the things that I kept thinking about all day long was how there was no one to show me around my first few days. Because of the way the schedule worked out I was the only intern in the office my first two days at Shoshanna and therefore there was no one to show me where the offices of the companies we work with were or how to do simple things around the office. This made everything take much longer then it should have because I was unsure of where to go and even resulted in me losing a check once…I got it back and it was ok thankfully! Having stories like the unfortunate check instance seemed to reassure the new intern a lot and seemed to ease some of the nerves she had. It also made me appreciate where I work because no one ever held it against me and I think most people have forgotten by now thankfully.
Another fun part about the intern who started this week is that she is from Australia! Because they don’t do internships in Australia she decided to come to New York for a year to intern and work and get a different experience. It has been so interesting to hear her impressions of America and what Australia is like. She has been in New York for two months so she is starting to really get a feel for the city and I am interested in seeing how her opinion changes over the next few months.

I am looking forward to this coming week because we are having our fall photo shoot and I have been asked to come in an extra day to help out. I am looking forward to seeing how everything works because the last photo shoot was taking place on my first day so I didn’t get to fully experience everything.

  1. The party seems so exciting! I would love to deal with RVSP list. It must be so cool to see who is all coming. It's so cool you can show the new intern around the office. You've moved up in your job! I would be so nervous if no one showed me around the first day of work.

  2. Wow, working on an event that will go on during fashion week seems like an amazing job to have. I think party planning seems like a very hard but very fun and exciting thing to do and I would love to do something like that one day. I would be nervous too about going to work at new place and not having anyone to show me around or tell me where anything was. It seems like your having an amazing time at work and you are learning a lot.

  3. That event you're working on sounds great for experience! And on top of that getting to teach the new intern the job and responsibilities really shows you've gained a lot of experience!
