Back in the beginning of September the PR showroom moved
locations from 8th avenue and 36th street to 6th
avenue and 40th street. The move gave us so much more space, and the
location was much more central. We upgraded to big windows, lots of sunlight
and beautiful wood floors, but there were more plans in store for the Rebecca
Taylor showroom. For months we heard talk about a remodel and started to get
excited, then design teams and contractors came and began taking measurements.
Beginning this past December the full remodel began!
At first we
were looking forward to the make over, but then when it actually began we
immediately hated it. The PR team was moved into the small kitchen area that is
poorly lit and we had to create desks to work at for three weeks. The walls in
our old office went up fast and we started to envision how the new layout was
going to look and it gave us light at the end of the tunnel. Then when winter
break rolled around we had to pack all of our stuff in boxes again to be stored
for the two week break we had so they could remodel the kitchen. We expected
everything to be done by the time we got back in January, but in typical
construction fashion they were running behind.
The first
few days back in January were rough, as we had no power for the first 3 hours
of work, had to unpack all our belongings, and unwrap all of the clothes. Boxes
got moved around in all the construction madness and a lot of boxes were lost
or misplaces, but as we started to settle into our new desks the finishing
touches were being done around the office. Rails were being hung, walls
painted, and floors finished; the place started to come together. We now have a
huge closet to hide older seasons, racks to show the most recent collection,
and a beautiful sitting area that I envy and wish was in my living room.
Needless to say we are all so thankful the construction is finally over with
and are left with a new and improved show room. It was about 2 months of construction
and moving three times, but in my opinion it was well worth it.
That sounds like a tough time to get through, but it all was worth it in the end! The new construction sounds really nice, and the difficulties that resulted because of it make it that much more rewarding!

ReplyDeleteThat sounds crazy but from your photo it looks like it was worth it! I agree with you that I would love to have those couches in my apartment. Sometimes I think my office could use a serious remodel so hope you all are enjoying what looks to be an awesome remodel!

ReplyDeleteWow. I've hear bad moving stories, but that seems rough. I haven't moved before so I do not know personally. However, the picture looks amazing - very comfortable and well lit. Looks like a great place to work!
