Midterms and Weather Complications

As week five approaches, I begin to feel the pressure. From commuting to New York to prepare for New York Fashion Week to meeting the demands of the middle school students. On tuesday, I was warned that the Visual Arts elective in the middle school received a new roster. I am so relieved that most of the students did not switch electives due to the upcoming Sneaker Project. The weather has caused a delay to the project. However, I am thrilled to meet some of the new students although they did not show up today most likely due to the weather. During the beginning of class, some of the students showed their eagerness by asking me what art project we were going to work on today. They were slightly disappointed when I told them that we would not have enough time due to having a couple of guest speakers. When I informed them that the guest speakers were from Drexel University, most of the students were very excited.

Students from the Visual Merchandising class from Drexel University came in and spoke to the students about long term projects for the school. Their eyes began to light up and a lot of them wanted to participate during the beginning of class when they had a chance to give their feedback. The project included a variety of themes from an ocean theme, jungle theme, to a space theme. At one time, most of the students agreed that one theme required more color. It was very incredible to see the students voice their opinion utilizing what they learned about the elements of design.
