Super Bowl Boulevard

As many know, New York will be hosting this years Super Bowl XLVIII.  Because of this, midtown is completely footballed- out.  My friends and I decided since this is such a rare occurrence, that we should partake in the action and check out Super Bowl Boulevard in Time Square. Upon our arrival, we learned that the festivities stretched all the way from 34th and Broadway to 46th and Broadway; we definitely had plenty to explore to full up our day.  We started at 34th and worked our way up.  We went into Macy's to find a silent auction loaded with old memorabilia and player worn jerseys, as well as tons of showcases filled with signed footballs and helmets.  Mannequins lined the store dressed as the star players of each of the NFL teams as well as a ton of signed jerseys on display. There was really something there for everyone.

One of the most exciting parts of our day was that we were on TV! ESPN had a set outside of Macys, where they were filming live.  My friends and I were the in the front row, right behind the sports announcers (look for us on ESPN Insiders).  As we made our way down Super Bowl Boulevard, we had the opportunity to see some players, including Nick Foles (for all you Eagle fans) and even the Lombardi trophy. Of course we were unable to wait in the lines to get autographs or see things up close, but everything had about a three- plus hour wait.  Although neither New York team is in the Super Bowl this year it was pretty amazing to see so many fans from all over the country gather in one place to celebrate something they all universally love.

  1. I am working as an intern for NYFW and my office is 40th and Broadway. It is so crowded. I thought it was incredible to see how many aspects were needed to make this a successful event. From the graphics that were used in signage to the activities for visitors. I'm glad you had an amazing and exciting time!

  2. This looks hilarious! The women's PR director in our office was trying to convince everyone to go on Friday, and she used us interns as leverage. She kept talking about taking us on a field trip and was trying to convince everyone to go on the slide together. Sadly, Friday afternoon got super busy and we never got to go!
