Small Companies and Big Hearts

It is interesting to see a company trying to grow themselves. Today I got to see two examples of the struggles that start-ups have in trying to promote and grow themselves. First off Sean, the creator of Duke and Winston, said he went to bed at 7am this morning and has basically lived at the store the past few days trying to get a business plan together. Getting this business plan together is extremely important because it is the starting point of more opportunities for the brand. Sean plans to grow the amount of retailers selling Duke and Winston products from 15 to 100 over the next year. This involves getting more investors, creating a business plan and looking in to trade show events. There is so much work that needs to be done and considering how small the company is it seems crazy that this will get done. That is how we find out how much passion actually drives us and allows us to do the seemingly impossible.
Duke and Winston is hosting an event friday night for the even smaller brand Abstract Thought. They are using our space to sell their clothing and hold kind of a launch party. They came in today to scope out the store and how they will set up their merchandise. They recently launched a video that follows the designer through out a day in his life. What seems casual and easy for a larger company is a much bigger deal for these too. It is very inspiring seeing these two companies working their hardest in order to get their products out to their eager customers. I think this is what makes small companies so great, the ability to actually see the passion and work that goes in to growing their brands
