Glass Half Full

This week has been a very busy and hectic one for me. As week 8 approaches in the Drexel schedule, talk of final projects and exams are already emerging, and the realization of the term's end continually becomes more real. Crunch time is on it's way! It's amazing to think how fast a Drexel semester can fly by, however, I cannot say that I am sad to see it go, as the temptation of Christmas break allures me from a distance. I look forward to spending time with my family at home, catching up with friends, and being able to see and talk with my coworkers in person versus over the phone. A break is much needed right about now.

Juggling projects for work and assignments for school is no easy task, and I can easily relate to the struggle of not having much time for leisure as many of you are writing about, but I am proud to say that I am actively balancing both. It may get hard, even overwhelming, but it only makes me stronger. Stronger in that I constantly test the boundaries of how much I can accomplish and continue to surprise myself. It's funny how we are often bombarded with thoughts of not having enough time, however if we just focused on the time we do have we would be a lot more at ease, a lot more productive. I, just as much as anyone, find the concept of time and not having enough of it very hard to deal with, but lately battling many time constraints and deadlines I have to constantly remind myself of the best ways to use and manage my own time. Instead of looking at it with dread and dismay, I look at it with appreciation and possibility. While working part-time and taking classes full-time, I continue to develop, challenge, and sacrifice my own time for that of a higher purpose, a greater goal.

You have to remember and focus on the difference between things that you want to do and things that you need to do. Focus on tasks with deadlines, you can always paint your nails tomorrow. Scheduling free time works very well for me. I like to designate a day for myself to not have to worry about everything in my planner and the time on the clock, usually Saturday. It's these moments that get me through the rest of the week, having something to look forward to is important. Remember to reward yourself for all your hard work, it will make you work even harder

  1. Adria,
I totally feel how busy you must be! I like you set one say aside for my self a week. I always try to make it a full day as well so that I can actually relax. Because sometimes for how much we do, we need to just sit and paint our nails or watch a movie!

I also totally agree with the testing of the boundaries of how much you can accomplish. If you would have asked me freshmen year if I would have commuted back and forth between NYC 2 terms in my college career already I would have said absolutely not. But I also think as we get older and closer to graduation we start to think more about getting a job and become more driven than we had thought possible!

    Good luck with everything
